2011 was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who attended and special thanks to our great contestants.
The East Tennessee Young Musicians Bluegrass Contest is held each year on the last Saturday in February at Hawkins Elementary School in Rogersville, Tennessee. The contest began in 2004 as the idea of The Ball Sisters Band of Rogersville. The contest has always been held as a fundraiser for youth programs in Hawkins County. Currently, the contest benefits the Heritage Lites Leadership scholarship program of the Rogersville Heritage Association. The purpose of the contest is twofold; it is our hope that the contest will provide a stress-free opportunity for young musicians to perform and create friendships with other musicians, secondly, by raising funds for youth of the community, kids are helping kids.
The contest is open to musicians eighteen and under. Catagories include fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocal. The contestants are also divided by age groups. Feel free to contact The Ball Sisters Band for more information. The event will be publisized in local media outlets in the weeks prior to the contest. We welcome all young bluegrass pickers and singers.
This event is about the kids and for the kids. Come join us in 2011!
